This case looks and feels beautiful. It fits the Kindle great and feels like it really protects it. It does make the Kindle a bit heavy though. While the slide-in ‘leather’ strap looks nice, it would be more convenient to have a faster latching system. Overall the case really does its job and looks beautiful doing it.

I PURCHASED THE 9.7″ KINDLE AND LATER A JACKET FOR IT TO PROTECT IT. I PURCHASED THE SYNTHETIC LEATHER BECAUSE OF THE DIFFERENCE IN PRICE FROM THE “REAL THING”. ALSO, I WANTED A SMOOTH RED AND THIS JACKET SEEMED TO FIT MY NEEDS. IT IS A VERY ATTRACTIVE JACKET AND I REALLY DO LIKE IT, BUT IT HAD A TERRIBLE ODOR WHEN I RECEIVED IT. I LEFT IT IN THE GARAGE FOR SEVERAL DAYS. THAT HELPED BUT SOME OF THE ODOR WAS STILL THERE. I AM USING IT NOW AND STILL DETECT A LITTLE ODOR, BUT NOT ENOUGH TO MATTER. I FEEL LIKE GIVEN MORE TIME, IT WILL COMPLETELY LOSE THAT FUNNY, WEIRD SMELL. IT’S A GREAT PRODUCT TO PROTECT THE KINDLE AND YOU REALLY CAN’T TELL THAT IT IS SYNTHETIC INSTEAD OF LEATHER!! I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO ANYONE.

As a vegeterean I did not want leather and this works perfectly. There is space on the side to put in a light, which is needed in low light situations. I recommend this product completely!

Debated on this or more expensive genuine leather – glad I chose this one! Looks and feels like leather, soft and buttery but supportive for Kindle. Strap allows for easel-like viewing or listening to audio books. I prefer this style to book style as it opens completely and makes it easier to use one-handed. I purchased accompanying light and everything fits and works perfectly. I did not notice any unusual odor mentioned by previous review.
