  • For a special, advertised by amazon, as Get it by Friday April 24th if you order in the next 7 hours and choose 1 day shipping? I ordered it on March 26th at noon and still haven’t received it as of April 23rd. It is on back order and has no expected delivery date listed. I counted on this as a gift and look foolish that I haven’t been able to give it yet.

  • Cole Haan Hand-Woven Leather Cover for Kindle 2,Dark BrownThis is really about the smooth leather cover, not the hand-woven cover, but the review choices won’t access the smooth cover, which sells for $99. I was looking forward to receiving the cover, but was very disappointed when I opened it and attached the Kindle 2. The elastic attachment at the upper left is annoying, as it does get in the way of the on/off switch. I could have dealt with that, but when I closed the cover I discovered that it wouldn’t lie flat. Even the $29 cover closes perfectly flat. To me, this suggests poor design which could easily have been avoided with a slightly wider binding. I find it hard to believe that the designers didn’t try this out first – unless they didn’t have a Kindle 2 to work with, in which case they probably went with the dimensions provided by Amazon, dimensions which have proven to be faulty. I’m not a person who returns things, in fact I almost never return anything, but this is an exception. For almost $100 I expect a book cover to function properly (that doesn’t seem like a difficult task for a book cover), and failure to lie flat is a malfunction as far as I’m concerned. Regretfully, I’m returning this cover and will make do with the $29 cover, which functions satisfactorily even if it isn’t the snazziest thing in town.

  • I ordered this cover with great expectations that it would be as classy and elegant as all Cole Haan products that I have encountered. In fact, it appeared to be classy and elegant, although I found the particular shade of brown to be somewhat dull and uninspiring. However, the deal breaker was the fact that when I attempted to fold back the front cover, my Kindle was pushed out of the lower left elastic holder. At first I thought I had just mishandled it or hadn’t put the Kindle in properly, but no, I put it in just fine, and the bad outcome was consistent. That meant that, first, my Kindle might drop, and second, that I would be constantly struggling with the cover to put the Kindle back in or readjust the elastic band. The problem seemed to be that the cardboard (or whatever) beneath the leather was distorted or bent in some way that made the leather pucker and push the Kindle out of its elastics. Obviously, QC didn’t check the fit on an actual Kindle before shipping that one out. Needless to say, I returned it.

  • Very pretty high quality leather. Nice workmanship. I upgraded my Kindle and regret that I have NO use for this cover now. IT IS GORGEOUS!

  • Well, I bought my Kindle (2nd generation) and the Cole Haan cover at the same time, and I am having a small love affair with them both – I hope they don’t find out about each other. The leather is beautiful and soft and it feels great in my hand. Being a big fan of holding an actual book in my hands (2 covers), I knew before buying the Kindle that my hands would greatly protest against holding a one-pane reader, having to time-share the right with the left. So, I figured I would have to buy something similar to the old book covers my Dad used to protect his old hardbacks with to regain some of that satisfaction….and I have in fact achieved that with the Cole Haan cover. My only complaint would be the use of the 4 elastic straps used to hold the Kindle in place. Considering the cost of the cover it would have been nice to have used a more natural material to keep the reader in place.
